My birthday wish came true early this year!!! After years of showing my art in shops and galleries a few pieces at a time, I finally have space on a gallery wall to call my own all year long!!! Paintings I’ve created in unison or in a series can finally hang together! This my friends is a dream come true! I am excited to announce that I am now a member of the Arts in the Village Gallery in Leesburg! Last week was a whirlwind of artful activity with a gallery interview, acceptance, orientation, installation and reception all within a few days! I’m looking forward to working with this talented group of artists! The gallery is located at 1601 Village Market Blvd, Suite #116, Leesburg, VA 20175 and is open 7 days a week. You can visit http://www.artsinthevillage.com/ for hours and information. I will be working in the gallery 2-3 days per month. Please stop by to say hello!

Going Abstract!
Every once in a while, I like to go more abstract in my painting. Going abstract is like going off-road for me. It’s like going on a new adventure with no specific destination in mind. The paint takes over and I am just along for the ride. Instead of focusing on painting a desired image, shape or scene, I focus more on color and texture and their interplay and energy on the canvas. This form of painting is very liberating and allows me to fully express my inner emotions onto the canvas. Going abstract allows my mind to take a break and de-clutter, bringing me joy, clarity and transformation. These are some of my recent abstract paintings. I hope you enjoy! I am excited to announce that “High Frequency” has been accepted into the Falls Church Arts Abstract Expressions Show! The show runs from September 30th-November 4th at 700-B W Broad Street in Falls Church. Meet the Artists Opening is Saturday, September 30th 7:30-10:00 p.m. Hope to see you there!

Thank you SO much to all of the talented heart-centered artists and generous bidders who participated in this online event! Special thanks to fellow artists Jane Bell Lassiter and Monica Martin who not only donated their beautiful artwork, but helped coordinate this event. Huge shout out to our highest bidders Steve Scott and Jane Bell Lassiter who went above and beyond with their donations! Special thanks to my family for putting up with me during this busy time and to Paul Tury for not only putting up with me but adding his graphic design talent to the mix! A New Day!
"A New Day" (24" x 24") |
"A New Day!" is the painting I created in response to Hurricane Harvey and will be donating for the Online Art Auction I organized to benefit Survivors of Hurricane Harvey! This painting started with the intention of "Courage" and is the first layer of this piece. Courage for the survivors as they move through this catastrophic event and on to the road of recovery. They are true warriors. And courage for me as I move forward with this auction, acting on my ideas and intuition to following my heart to give back to others through art. After all, beneath each New Day is Courage!
I hope you will join us for this heart filled Art Auction and Labor of Love tomorrow!

See you there!
Thanks again to all of the amazing artists participating in this event, to my husband for all of his support, to fellow artists Monica Martin and Jane Bell Lassiter for helping me coordinate this effort, to Stephanie Gagos for being a great resource for online art auctions, and to all of YOU for spreading the word to buyers and bidders!

Sea Turtles in September!
"She Turtle" |
This summer I was blessed with the honor of witnessing a sea turtle hatching (boil)! It was truly an amazing sight and moving experience! Witnessing a hatching and watching baby sea turtles make their way to the ocean has been on my bucket list for years. I am overjoyed to have finally seen this miracle of nature. In honor of this awe inspiring event, I am releasing a limited quantity of sea turtle art prints this September!
Prints will be made from my original 24” x 24” “She Turtle” painting. The price for each 8” x 8” signed print is $45. In an effort to assist with the continued protection of these magnificent creatures I will donate 10% of the total proceeds to N.E.S.T. (Network for Endangered Sea Turtles) the organization I had the pleasure of nest sitting with this summer.

"Let's Flood Texas with LOVE!" Art for Hurricane Relief!
I am a mixed media artist from Virginia whose heart is breaking with each new photo and update of the flooding in Texas due to Hurricane Harvey. My family and I were in North Carolina for Hurricane Matthew last fall and though we experienced major flooding and power outages it was no where near as catastrophic as what’s going on in Texas right now.
I am coordinating an online art auction to benefit the victims of Hurricane Harvey. I am reaching out to artists near and far who have an interest in humanity and helping others. I would be honored if you would participate in this heartfelt project. I am asking each artist to donate one signed original work of art.
One hundred percent of the proceeds will go to the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund. Shipping costs will be the responsibility of the buyer and can be paid directly to the artist. Please let me know if you are interested in participating either as an artist or a bidder as soon as possible by emailing me at jackietury@gmail.com. Once I’ve heard back from you, I will email instructions to artists for uploading an image of your artwork, link to your website, etc. and instructions to buyers for bidding in the auction.

Lemons and Lavender!
Thought I would share these two new paintings inspired by my recent visit to a beautiful lavender farm! I love the sight and scent of lemons and lavender! What a great way to spend a summer day! Soaking in the sunshine and the soothing scent of lavender while sipping sweet lavender lemonade and hand-picking these gorgeous aromatic purple blooms! Both lemons and lavender evoke the spirit of summer for me. Lemons shout bright, clean, crisp, citrus delight and lavender whispers relaxing, lazy days and magical nights.
"Lemons" - 16" x 20" |
"Lavender"- 16" x 20" |
If you are interested in purchasing one (or both) of these original paintings or ordering prints, please email me at: jackietury@gmail.com! Paintings are 16” x 20” and are $150 each or $275 for the set.

From MIA to Moving Forward! Lots happening behind the scenes!
I may have been MIA on the blog lately, but LOTS has been going on behind the scenes!
Here is a quick update and shout out to all my friends!
The most recent news is that I've just completed my life coach training and am now a certified professional life coach!!! Check back soon to see how I am integrating this new dimension into my practice and my artful offerings! I love my tribe of fellow coaches! They are all such passionate, positive people doing great things in the world!
I recently completed another wave of beach paintings! These original artworks will be heading to OBX shops soon! If you want to catch one before they're gone, send me an email!
I had the pleasure of creating some commissioned artwork for a childhood friend who is chasing her dream of producing a solo album at age 50! April is a talented musician and songwriter. Her album is called "Second Chances" and you can check it out here aprilkmusic. April wanted a dragonfly for the album cover and poster. She asked several artists to create works inspired by her songs and lyrics. The top right piece was created for the song "Sunless Sky" and the bottom right for "Old Love." I'm so excited to be part of April's adventure and help her launch her dream!
Another friend recently hired me to lead an art project at her daughter's birthday party! What a fun and inspiring day with these young artists!
Yet another friend hired me to host an art party for her girl scout troop! Loved painting with these amazing teens which included my own daughter and her friends!
Though I may not have kept up with my blog or social media this last month or so, I have been busy teaching, learning, sharing, painting and spending time with family! All pretty important stuff in my book. More changes to come this summer as I move forward! Please check back often for new artwork and offerings!

Free as a Feather Thank You!
I enjoyed teaching my "Free as a Feather" art workshop the other night! Thanks to all the wonderful women who joined me! Love your special feather messages--each so beautiful, personal and unique! Here are a few photos from our evening and a little background on my fascination with feathers. May your spirits be free and your dreams take flight! xxoo ~Jackie
When I was a child, I was told that feathers were dirty and carried disease and to NEVER pick them up! As a child, I believed this and did what I was told. However, as an adult, I no longer simply do as I'm told. I am drawn to feathers--their beauty, their connection to freedom and flight. So, I began picking them up! I became fascinated with feathers--wondering which birds they came from, what messages they were carrying, what meaning and symbolism I could apply to my life and circumstances. And thus, my collection began. Two of my favorite feathers are my red-tailed hawk feather and my brilliant blue jay feather found just days before my workshop! Hope you enjoy!
