Notecards are in!

Notecards are in! Each packet comes with 5 different notecards (coffee cup, cupcake, teapot, grow flowers, blossom flowers) and 5 white envelopes. Order yours today for $12 (additional shipping charges may apply). Contact me at jackietury@cox.net. I'm planning to print notecards with my seahorse, peacock, butterfly, and sunflower in the New Year. I'm also hoping to have 5x7 and 8x10 prints made, as well as prints on canvas. I plan to start my Etsy shop this winter too!

In addition to getting my paintings printed on notecards and experimenting with painting abstract landscapes, I've been very busy with my daughters' Art in the Schools Programs. I've also been buying art from other local artists. I love my whimsical window from Lynne Gillis at www.gardenglasswindows.com. My friend loves the june moon beaded quilt we bought for her from Artomatic artist Alyson Olander at www.hastyquilter.com.

A belated thank you to everyone who bid on my "Grow Hope" collages! Both were purchased for very special people and I was able to donate another $150 to the Ya-Yas and Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Back to the Studio! Grow Hope!

After an amazing summer full of fun, it's back to the studio! I just finished a special project to benefit the fight against breast cancer. Four of my close friends are walking this weekend in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day. Since I am unable to walk with them, I am donating my time, money and art for the cause. My husband and I wrote a personal check and designed a logo for my friends, the "Ya-yas for Ta-tas." I created two new 12x12 mixed media collage pieces, "grow hope pink" and "grow hope blue." I am auctioning them off and donating 100% of the purchase price to the Ya-Yas and Susan G. Komen Foundation. Bidding starts today at $50 and ends at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 8th. If you are interested in making an offer, please email me at jackietury@cox.net. On a separate note, I recently enjoyed visiting with many fellow Artomatic artists at the Lorton Workhouse and Del Ray's Art on the Avenue.

Peeps! Poems! Presidents! at Artomatic

Artomatic as a family this weekend! We had a great time!
Peeps: The kids enjoyed meeting Betty (Washington Post Peeps Diorama Contest Finalist) and making their own peeps dioramas. Of course a few peeps were sampled along the way.
Poems: I was pleasantly surprised to find a BRASH poem taped to my wall! BRASH is an anonymous poet who leaves poems for select Artomatic artists. S/he is somewhat of an Artomatic celebrity. I feel honored to have received a BRASH poem--it made my day! Thanks!
Presidents: We even ran into the president and his family. True, they were only cardboard, but the kids still wanted a photo.

We also caught the Artomatic cardboard 500 and had fun seeing all the cool art and leaving comments in the guest books. Don't forget to visit--less than a week to go!

ARTOMATIC Update!

I've had so much fun working my shifts and meeting many of the participating artists!
I was out of town and missed "Meet the Artist Night", but plan to make at least 2 more visits.
I will be at Artomatic on Saturday, June 27th for the Artomatic 500 & Peeps workshop. I also plan to go on July 3rd for the New Artist Tour and 10th Anniversary Party. Hope to see you there!!! Special thanks to "Odd Little Bird" for posting a photo of my space on flickr and to DC blogs for mentioning "Colorful Creations by Jackie Tury"!

Artomatic Opening Night--WOW!!!

WOW! is the best word to describe the "art explosion" at Artomatic's opening night! The building was buzzing...alive with music, art, and positive energy! It was a sensory overload! It was AMAZING! I'm so happy to be a part of it! I had fun working my shift...meeting, greeting, and directing people. The eclectic bunch of people mirrored the wide range of art on display. I had a BLAST touring ALL 9 floors with my friend Anne Marie who saved the day and joined me for the celebration! I enjoyed mixing, mingling, meeting so many wonderfully talented and creative spirits! A HUGE thank you to everyone who came out to see the show! If you missed it, it's not too late...Artomatic runs through July 5th. Hope to see you soon!
