I ran into fellow Artomatic artist Quest Skinner at Eastern Market the other day. Her paintbrush piece was the perfect addition to the new art and music room in our basement--thanks Quest! I haven't baked any pies yet this summer, but I've painted a few. Here are "a la mode" and "key lime." I've also added a few new pieces to my "Cake Collection." I have quite the Bakery going! Just in time for our Art Open House. More on that later...

Mirror Mirror on the Wall!
I'm so excited--our Sticks mirror arrived this weekend! Paul and I have always been huge Sticks and ArtCraft fans and now we have our own custom piece. Our special mirror is the perfect addition to our family room! It's filled with our favorite Sticks sayings and icons and even includes a picture of our house, family, and kayak. Thank you Adam, Amy, and Michelle!

Cardinals & Caterpillars in Kindergarten!
I have had such a great year in kindergarten! These wonderful little people have taught and inspired me as much as I have taught and inspired them. These are two of my favorite art projects. Since we were learning about Virginia, I taught our students to paint cardinals and dogwoods. I still can't believe how well they did. While studying "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" by Eric Carle, we made a "classroom caterpillar" complete with food and butterflies. Quite a colorful display. These little artists amaze me!

April Showers bring Gifts and Flowers
Here is a mini mermaid I created as a gift for my friend Jennifer's birthday. I already have other mermaid requests from family and friends. "Another cake?!" my daughter asked. "Yes, another cake!" I am having too much fun with my little cake paintings to stop now! I like experimenting with the different textures, patterns, decorations and designs. I can't decide if this latest one looks more like a birthday cake or a wedding cake. You decide. Either way, this cake is ready for spring and so am I!
