A New Gallery to Call Home! Birthday Wish Comes Early!

My birthday wish came true early this year!!!  After years of showing my art in shops and galleries a few pieces at a time, I finally have space on a gallery wall to call my own all year long!!!  Paintings I’ve created in unison or in a series can finally hang together!  This my friends is a dream come true!  I am excited to announce that I am now a member of the Arts in the Village Gallery in Leesburg!  Last week was a whirlwind of artful activity with a gallery interview, acceptance, orientation, installation and reception all within a few days! I’m looking forward to working with this talented group of artists!  The gallery is located at 1601 Village Market Blvd, Suite #116, Leesburg, VA 20175 and is open 7 days a week.  You can visit http://www.artsinthevillage.com/ for hours and information.  I will be working in the gallery 2-3 days per month. A New Day!

"A New Day" (24" x 24")

"A New Day!"  is the painting I created in response to Hurricane Harvey and will be donating for the Online Art Auction I organized to benefit Survivors of Hurricane Harvey!  This painting started with the intention of "Courage" and is the first layer of this piece.  Courage for the survivors as they move through this catastrophic event and on to the road of recovery.  They are true warriors.  And courage for me as I move forward with this auction, acting on my ideas and intuition to following my heart to give back to others through art.  After all, beneath each New Day is Courage!

"Courage" (first layer of any New Day)

Sea Turtles in September!

"She Turtle"

This summer I was blessed with the honor of witnessing a sea turtle hatching (boil)!  It was truly an amazing sight and moving experience!  Witnessing a hatching and watching baby sea turtles make their way to the ocean has been on my bucket list for years.  I am overjoyed to have finally seen this miracle of nature.  In honor of this awe inspiring event, I am releasing a limited quantity of sea turtle art prints this September!  

Prints will be made from my original 24” x 24” “She Turtle” painting. The price for each 8” x 8” signed print is $45.  In an effort to assist with the continued protection of these magnificent creatures I will donate 10% of the total proceeds to N.E.S.T. (Network for Endangered Sea Turtles) the organization I had the pleasure of nest sitting with this summer.  

Great day in the Studio!

I LOVE to paint!!!  I cannot even begin to tell you how happy painting makes me!  Today has been a great day in the studio working on some abstract beachscapes based on my recent road trip!  Hope you enjoy!

Full Moon Over Folly!

This mixed media painting was created after returning from spring break where I was lucky enough to witness a beautiful full moon rise over the ocean at Folly Beach! Loved how the palm trees were blowing in the breeze!  I will be teaching this project in a workshop/art party this summer!  Stay tuned for dates and details, or message me to be added to my list.  I am also happy to host private art parties and create commissioned pieces :)

It's been a while since I've participated in a Del Ray art show, but I couldn't let this one pass me by! "Creatures from the Sea" was calling my name! My whole house is filled with sea creatures 
smile emoticon.  These two are in the show which opens Friday night, April 1st (no fooling) and runs through May 1st! I also have a few mini mermaids in the art to go section. Coastal Collection Growing!!!

I fully enjoyed my mini social media hiatus and was able to finish these paintings before heading off to Yellowstone for an awesome family adventure (more on that later).  I sold one of the sea turtles before even posting--thanks Mary Anne!  My Coastal Collection is definitely growing!  Now I just need my own little beach house to put it in!  In the meantime, I am working on my "canvas" beach house.  Should be done soon :).   If you are interested in purchasing a piece from my Coastal Collection, please contact me at jackietury@gmail.com.  Here's to endless summers!

Going Coastal--Happy World Ocean Day!

Happy World Ocean Day! My life-long love affair with the ocean is still going strong as I continue to be inspired by her beauty and abundance!  With the ocean as my inner muse, I am “Going Coastal!”  Take a peek at all the “coastal creations” I have in progress--most are just about done!  Almost makes me feel like I’m at the beach, which is where I plan to take some of these pieces this summer. Sand & Sea

Thanks to all the snow we've been getting lately, I've had some time to work on these paintings I started back in November!  I began by painting several layers while actually ON the beach!  I love how some of the paintings still have sand in them!  So fun to watch these paintings transform and to know that there is a piece of the beach in each of them!  Now as I am surrounded by beautiful white snow, I can dream of the Sand & Sea and my favorite place to be!  Stay warm!

Donna and I at Deja New

One lone mermaid made her way to Deja New where I met new artist friends Donna and Brad!  Donna is the owner of Deja New, a shop where you can find fun, funky furniture and more!  She and her daughter teach classes there too.  Donna and I have similar interests in collage, mixed media, and art for the soul.  So nice to find a kindred spirit!  Brad is not only an awesome artist, but also a chef at Elizabeth's Cafe in Duck!  You can find his work in the restaurant, Deja New and in the summer issue of Sun magazine.  To learn more about Deja New, go to: https://www.facebook.com/dejanewOBX
